Job Summary and Key Responsibilities

The Senior Data Engineer will contribute to Starbucks' success by building corporate data services for analytic solutions. The key responsibilities of this role include:

• Demonstrating deep knowledge of the data engineering area, including non-interactive (batch, distributed) and real-time, highly available data, and data pipelines
• Developing and optimizing data products to serve client personas, Data Science, AI/ML, and data visualization
• Building fault-tolerant, self-healing, adaptive, and highly accurate data computational pipelines
• Providing sessions and leading the implementation of complex programs
• Developing and maintaining documentation related to all assigned systems and projects
• Performing root cause analysis to identify permanent resolutions to software or business process issues

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• Strong professional skills in Spark (PySpark) using Jupyter Notebooks, Colab, or DataBricks
• Hands-on experience with data pipeline development, ingest patterns in Azure
• Experience with orchestration tools, such as ADF or Airflow
• SQL skills
• Denormalized Data modeling for large data structures
• Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work remotely and be an engaging team member
• Strong analytical and design skills

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

Preferred candidates will have:

• 7-10 years of experience in architecting and designing large-scale, high-performance distributed systems
• 7-10 years of experience in SQL Platform
• 3+ years of experience in No-SQL Platform
• 3+ years of experience in Spark
• 3+ years of experience in Data platform implementation on Azure or AWS
• 2+ years of experience in CI/CD experience
• Exposure to SOA architecture
