Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead engaging water-based exercise classes that cater to diverse fitness levels and goals
- Create a safe and supportive environment for participants, providing modifications and alternatives as needed
- Educate class participants on correct form and technique, and provide feedback and encouragement
- Build positive relationships with class participants, responding to their needs and concerns, and promoting Life Time Fitness programs and services
- Maintain a clean and organized studio space, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for participants
- Stay up-to-date with the latest fitness trends and research, and incorporate this knowledge into your classes
- Collaborate with other instructors and team members to develop and implement new programs and services
Essential Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1 or more years of experience as a fitness instructor, preferably in a group fitness setting
- CPR/AED Certification
- Minimum of one of the following Group Exercise Certifications: National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM), American Council of Exercise (ACE), American Fitness Aerobic Association (AFAA), Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA)
- Ability to perform an aerobic activity for the duration of a class, which may include standing, walking, climbing, balancing, running, crawling, and kneeling
- Ability to routinely lift 50 pounds and occasionally 100 pounds
- Ability to perform exercises specific to the assigned class
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching water-based exercise classes
- Knowledge of aquatic exercise principles and safety guidelines
- Experience working with diverse populations, including seniors, youth, and individuals with disabilities
- Certification in a related field, such as exercise science or sports medicine
