Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Part-time Barista to join our Food Service team. As a Part-time Barista, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, taking orders, preparing food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This is a part-time position, expected to work 16 hours per week, with a competitive hourly rate of $16.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet customers in a friendly manner and take food and drink orders.
  • Identify prices of products and services and tabulate bills with available equipment.
  • Take payment from customers and ensure accurate transactions by balancing cash register at the beginning and end of shift, and sales at the end of shift.
  • Prepare and serve beverages, ranging from simple to elaborate ones.
  • Prepare and serve food items such as soups, sandwiches, and pastries.
  • Answer customers' questions about menu choices and promote and recommend menu options to customers.
  • Maintain inventory and equipment by cleaning and restocking supplies.
  • Keep the work environment sanitary and organized.

Essential Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience handling US currency.
  • Basic mathematical skills, as needed to make change and give refunds.
  • Ability to operate available equipment, such as cash registers & calculator.
  • Food Handlers Permit (if hired within 14 days).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a food service environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn college systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
