About the Role
The Secondary Math Learning Department Specialist will serve as a dual-role expert, supporting both the instructional design team and carrying a reduced instructional design focus in secondary math. This remote role offers the freedom and flexibility to work from one of our Family Service Centers, while making a meaningful impact on the lives of our students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in online curriculum design and delivery, ensuring the highest quality educational experiences for our students.
- Support and coach instructional designers in utilizing evidence-based instructional practices within asynchronous course creation.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend curriculum resources and technology for adoption into courses, staying current with best practices in online education.
- Collaborate with K-12 specialists to review instructional practices, course data, and implement changes and updates to course content.
- Mentor and coach instructional designers, providing content-specific professional learning and guidance.
- Manage and support systems for course revisions and enhancements, ensuring seamless implementation and minimal disruptions.
- Stay abreast of new developments and research in online education, sharing knowledge with teachers and stakeholders as needed.
- Carry a reduced (50%) instructional design focus in secondary math, applying expertise to course creation and revisions.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's degree and Pennsylvania Teaching certification in secondary math or a related field.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in online teaching or instructional design, with a proven track record of success.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
- Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail, with a solutions-minded approach to challenges.
- A love of learning and a growth mindset, with a deep commitment to universal design for learning.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pedagogy, standards, and the unique needs of K-12 online students, teachers, and administrators.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- A Master's degree in a related field, such as education or curriculum design.
- Special Education Certification, Reading Certification, or ESL Certification, demonstrating expertise in diverse educational settings.
- 5+ years of cyber teaching experience, with a proven track record of success in online education.
- Experience in course/instructional design, with a deep understanding of online course creation and implementation.
- A valid Pennsylvania driver's license and appropriate automobile insurance coverage, as travel may be required.
