Role Overview

As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Search Query Understanding, you will be responsible for researching, proposing, and leading innovative language modeling techniques to further language understanding capabilities. Key Responsibilities

• Researching, proposing, and leading innovative language modeling techniques to further language understanding capabilities
• Building novel applications of LLMs to various search problems
• Developing a long-term technical vision and proposing a roadmap for the team
• Collaborating with various product teams across the company and partnering with them to apply language understanding models to new product areas and use cases
• Working on continuously improving the metrics and performance of models the team has launched in production by leveraging innovative ML techniques
• Analyzing the loss patterns in the current search and assistant stack and coming up with new ideas, algorithms, and techniques to resolve those losses with the goal of improving the top-line product metrics

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

• 7+ years of experience in Machine Learning, NLP, Large Language Models, and applying these techniques at scale
• 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, overseeing technically complex projects, and people management, scaling, and growing technical teams
• Strong software engineering skills in a mainstream programming language, such as Python, Go, C/C++
• Strong communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry work experience

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the essential qualifications, we are looking for candidates with:

• Familiarity with NLP/ML tools and packages like Jax, TensorFlow, pyTorch, etc.
• Practical experience building production-quality applications related to natural language processing and machine learning
