Job Overview

We're looking for a skilled and dedicated Elementary Teaching Assistant to support our certified teachers in delivering high-quality instruction to students in grades K-5. As a key member of our educational team, you'll play a vital role in providing individualized support to students, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide small group instruction and support to students under the direction of a certified teacher
• Assist with behavior management, creating a positive and respectful learning environment
• Collect data and track student progress, helping to inform instruction and drive student growth
• Prepare lesson materials and assist with co-teaching, collaborating with teachers to deliver engaging and effective instruction
• Develop and maintain a positive and supportive relationship with students, teachers, and parents

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you'll need to meet the following essential qualifications:

• Proper Connecticut teaching certification (Elementary Education) preferred
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of teaching reading at the primary level
• Experience working with students in a educational setting, preferably in reading and mathematics remediation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents
• Ability to work within a tight schedule, remaining highly organized and focused on delivering high-quality support to students

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

• Experience with data collection and analysis, using data to inform instruction and drive student growth
• Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions, particularly in reading and mathematics
• Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities or English language learners
