About Our Team

The Sam's Tech Part Work Area Designing team is responsible for designing and overseeing applications and services that run at the part benefits work area across all Sam's clubs. Our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers and business stakeholders. We're a collaborative and innovative team that thrives on creativity, experimentation, and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and lead the execution of new functionalities and client experiences for our web and cloud applications.
  • Collaborate with your supervisor, product, project, and design teams to design, execute, and deliver on run, quarterly, and project objectives.
  • Act as an informed authority to provide technical leadership and mentorship to your colleagues, other teams, and designers.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize business requirements, design solutions, and deliver high-quality software products.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our business needs, industry trends, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and growth.
  • Contribute to the development of technical standards, best practices, and guidelines to ensure consistency and quality across our applications.
  • Participate in code reviews, provide feedback, and mentor junior engineers to improve code quality and technical skills.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and growth in our applications.

What You'll Bring

To succeed in this role, you'll need to bring a unique combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills. Here are the essential qualifications and skills we're looking for:

Essential Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Software Engineering or a related technical field and 10+ years of industry experience.
  • No less than 8 years of experience creating software in a dynamic team environment.
  • Proven experience developing mobile applications using Respond Local mobile platform.
  • Experience in Plan, Development, Coding, Testing, and Delivering to QA.
  • Experience with monitoring mobile application performance, security, and success rate and using data to improve the same.
  • Ability to improve code quality through writing unit tests, automation, and performing code audits.
  • A solid foundation in software design – ability to create software that is extensible, reusable, and meets desired architectural goals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Programming, or related field and 2 years' experience in software development or related field.
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Azure.
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, such as continuous integration and continuous deployment.
  • Strong understanding of security principles and practices, including secure coding and threat modeling.
  • Experience with data analytics and business intelligence tools, such as Tableau or Power BI.
