Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated tutor to join our team at the Desert Vista Learning Center. As a tutor, you will work closely with students to develop their comprehension of subject coursework, improve their study skills and habits, and enhance their overall academic performance. You will provide one-on-one and group tutoring sessions, as well as embedded tutoring in classes, using a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to engage students and promote learning.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide instructional tutoring and assistance to students in a virtual environment and in person, focusing on basic concepts, specific problems, homework, test preparation, and the effective use of textbooks and instructional materials.

• Help students develop effective study skills, including time management, self-confidence, and academic independence, both online and in person.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse student and employee populations, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
• Report any problems or concerns with equipment or materials to the Learning Center Personnel.
• Complete CRLA level 1 certification within one year of employment.

Essential Qualifications

* High School Diploma or GED

• Proven classroom excellence (grade A or B) in the subject(s) to be tutored
• Written Faculty recommendation for the subject(s) to be tutored OR vetting of content knowledge
• Ability to work effectively in a virtual environment and in person

Preferred Qualifications

* Tutoring experience

• Comfort tutoring multiple subjects
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions

Skills and Competencies

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency in using technology, including online learning platforms and software
