• Join ION Group as a Senior Consultant – Risk Advisory and become the trusted partner that helps Italy’s leading banks, insurers and corporates turn regulatory pressure into competitive advantage. You will sit at the intersection of finance, data science and policy, translating complex Basel, EBA and IFRS9 rules into pragmatic, technology-enabled solutions that safeguard capital and unlock growth.
• Day-to-day, you will lead or co-lead work-streams on high-profile engagements for tier-1 domestic and international clients. Typical mandates include: (1) end-to-end redevelopment of PD, LGD and EAD models to meet ECB TRIM and EBA IRB repair expectations; (2) design and delivery of ICAAP/ILAAP frameworks, Risk Appetite Statements and Board-level RAF dashboards; (3) integration of climate-risk scenarios into traditional credit-risk stress-testing engines; and (4) independent model validation and audit remediation programmes.
• You will own the quantitative heavy-lifting—data sourcing, sampling, variable transformation, model estimation, back-testing and benchmarking—while also crafting the narrative that regulators, senior management and non-technical stakeholders can trust. Expect to manipulate multi-million-row datasets in SAS, Python or R, run Monte-Carlo simulations on AWS or on-prem grids, and visualise results in interactive PowerBI or Tableau decks that land in the CRO’s inbox the same evening.
• Governance and documentation are not afterthoughts. You will draft model methodologies, validation reports, policy papers and Board packs that withstand ECB on-site inspections and Big-4 audits. Your writing style is concise, evidence-based and regulator-friendly; your slide decks tell a story in six charts or fewer.
• Project management is hands-on. You will prepare weekly sprint plans, run daily stand-ups with junior analysts, flag scope creep early, and keep engagement economics green. You are comfortable juggling two or three client streams at once, switching from a climate-risk scenario design workshop in the morning to a TRIM remediation call in the afternoon.
• Mentorship is part of the mandate. You will coach graduates and junior consultants, review code, share modelling shortcuts, and sponsor internal lunch-and-learns. Your goal is to build a self-sustaining team that can run without you—yet still invites you to celebrate the go-live.
• Business development is expected at senior-consultant level. You will spot upsell opportunities during delivery, draft proposal sections, and accompany partners on pitches. Over time, you will own a client relationship or a niche capability (e.g., climate-risk integration) and become the go-to expert across the Italian practice.
• Finally, you will plug into ION’s global Risk Advisory network—4,800 clients, 35 offices, and a treasure trove of proprietary data and accelerators. Whether you need a Python library for IFRS9 staging, a benchmarking dataset for retail mortgage LGD, or a peer discussion on ECB expectations, the answer is one Slack message away.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in credit-risk modelling, validation or governance within a top-tier consulting firm, Big-4, or the risk-management function of a major bank
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related quantitative discipline
• Proven track record with Basel/EBA regulatory capital rules (IRB, F-IRB, SA) and IFRS9 impairment models; familiarity with ECB TRIM guidelines is a strong plus
• Advanced proficiency in at least one statistical programming language (SAS, Python or R) and comfort manipulating large datasets; knowledge of SQL and data-visualisation tools (PowerBI, Tableau) is desirable
• Fluent English (minimum B2) and strong Italian; ability to distil complex analytics into clear written and verbal communication for regulators and senior stakeholders
