Responsibilities

The Virtual Nurse will develop the plan of care and provide comprehensive oversight of the care of the patient remotely on an acute care, medical-surgical unit. The virtual model will include a Virtual Command Center (VCC/HUB) where the Virtual Care Nurse will anticipate and direct the care of the patient through evaluating health promotion, risk reduction and clinical decision making. The Nurse assumes accountability for client care outcomes through the assimilation and application of evidence based practice to design, implement, and evaluate client plans of care in a virtual environment setting. The Virtual Care Nurse will design, implement, and evaluate client care by coordinating, delegating and supervising the care provided by the unit based health care team, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified assistants, social workers, case managers and allied health professionals. A high degree of professional competence and autonomy will be demonstrated in performing the roles of 1) clinician 2) educator 3) consultant/collaborator 4) leader. This unique and innovative opportunity is eligible to be remote. There will be required in person training; 12 weeks that will include clinical education and floor training. Once new employee orientation is complete, the position will transition to remote from home. A hybrid schedule is also a consideration. Specialty: Med Surg Tele, Acute Care Hospital VIC Nurse will Support: CHI St. Joseph Health (2801 Franciscan Dr. Bryan, TX 77802) (HUB) Location: Corporate Office (3100 Main St. Houston, TX 77004) Regular Scheduled Hours : Three (12/hr) Shifts, Rotating Weekends Orientation: Onsite Hospital Orientation (Bryan TX, Hotel & Mileage Reimbursement) & HUB orientation located at the Corporate Office & Baylor St. Luke's TMC

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors in Nursing, BSN degree (or must be actively in pursuit of a BSN degree) Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas Outcomes management experience American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Minimum Experience: Two (2) years of RN experience in an acute care facility Med Surg Tele, Acute Care Charge Experience Preferred Minimum Experience: Five Plus (5+) years of RN Med Surg Tele experience in an acute care facility strongly preferred Meditech (EMR) Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Effective Communication Knowledge of the principles and skills of the nursing process to provide patient care and treatment.
