Underwriter I, Commercial Lines
Intact is a company dedicated to helping people, businesses, and society prosper. They are looking for an Underwriter I, Commercial Lines, to join their team, where the role involves underwriting and rating policies, building relationships, and providing technical advice to team members.
Responsibilities
- Participate In broker visits, Insurance Industry functions and marketing events in support of broker relationship development
- Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company
- Make recommendations to improve the department processes and increase efficiency
- Analyze requests for quotes and recommend innovative solutions
- Focus on building relationships while underwriting and rating policies
- Provides technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to team members
- Assess, evaluate and negotiate on moderate to complex risks
Skills
- Commercial underwriting experience (PNC)
- Very strong sales and customer service skills
- Maintain an expert and current understanding of all relevant Commercial Underwriting Guides and instructions related thereto
- Demonstrate the ability to handle complex risks
- Awareness of local community conditions and insurance issues
- Strong negotiating skills and business savvy
- Initiative and ability to work under pressure
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada
- Completion of or progress toward a CIP designation is an asset
