The Senior Commercial Appraisal Reviewer is responsible for ordering and reviewing commercial real estate appraisals, and performing independent evaluations and validations for the purpose of establishing the current market value of real estate taken as collateral on loans. Position Accountabilities

  • Competently understand a high level of complexity of real estate taken as collateral by the Bank. Must be able to advise Bank personnel on matters of type of appraisal, types of values needed, and required valuation scenarios.
  • Order appraisals of commercial real estate for the purpose of determining value. Identification and engagement of service providers most appropriate for a particular assignment. Effective communication of requirements to external fee appraisers.
  • Perform technical and administrative reviews of commercial real estate appraisals for compliance with law and policy, and for reasonableness and quality.
  • Identify required adjustment to appraised value if qualified, when warranted, and support the decision to do so according to USPAP and FIRREA requirements.
  • Resolve valuation differences/discrepancies between appraisers and loan production staff while maintaining Appraiser Independence.
  • Independently perform high level of complexity Evaluations and V
  • Provides direction and serves as Subject Matter Expert to Bank personnel on all matters of real estate valuation, market data, and/or environmental risk assessment.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of real estate value trends and property developments to ensure valuations conform to current market conditions.
  • Train and provide assistance to teammates in Credit Administration, Commercial, Consumer Lending (Real Estate), and other related departments.
  • Prepare or review Environmental Due Diligence determinations as needed.
  • Assist the Chief Appraiser in maintaining the Appraisal Policy and related documents.
  • Assist the Chief Appraiser with maintenance and quality control of the Bank's Approved Appraiser list. Makes recommendations for additions or deletions based on quality of work reviewed and personal interactions with third-party vendors.
  • Maintain effective relationships with external fee appraisers and other vendors.
  • Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations governing bank operations, including compliance with Atlantic Union Bankshares' BSA/AML Policy and Procedures.
  • Assists with other work/projects as needed. Organizational Relationship This position reports to the Chief Appraiser. Position Qualifications Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.
  • Five to seven years of experience; licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser, with at least two years as a fee appraiser Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of regulations affecting the appraisal industry to include FIRREA, USPAP and the Interagency Guidelines.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the practical aspects of real estate appraisal
  • Previous experience or working knowledge of databases like Costar, MLS, Loopnet.com preferred
  • Proficient computer skills relevant to Microsoft Office Suites

  • Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision, as well as within a team environment Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
