Description Title: Lecturer (Dental Hygiene) Hiring Unit: UH at Manoa School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene Location: Honolulu Date Posted: May 15, 2025 Closing Date: Continuous Salary Information: Applicable Minimum for the Academic Year Full Time/Part Time: Part Time Temporary/Permanent: Temporary Other Conditions: For placement in lecturer applicant poolbeginning 2025 Summer sessions, and Fall 2025 & Spring 2026 semesters. Positions are part-time, temporary, non-tenure, and contingent upon course offerings, sufficient student enrollment, position clearance, and availability of funds. May be for day, evening, or weekend offerings, on- and off-campus (e.g., clinical settings). To know more about the UH at Manoa School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene, go to: https://nursing.hawaii.edu/dental-hygiene-bachelor/ Duties and Responsibilities: Under general supervision, design, deliver, and assess instruction in terms of student learning outcomes; teach assigned courses in the undergraduate dental hygiene program; develop and/or update course content and materials; use teaching strategies to meet the college's diverse students learning needs; submit annual self-assessment; mentor and assist students; complete grades on a timely basis; attend faculty meetings and other duties that the supervisor assigns. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited college or university; with five (5) years of experience in area of teaching responsibility;
  • Current unrestricted Dental Hygienist;
  • Engaged in professional practice with a similar patient population and level of patient acuity for the purpose of supervising nursing students;
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively and to direct group discussion;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision to dental hygiene students.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with a bachelor's level dental hygiene curriculum.
  • Previous teaching experience with teaching and/or supervising undergraduate dental hygiene students including didactic and clinical courses.
