The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is dedicated to improving public health in New York City. They are seeking a Data Analyst to collect, clean, and analyze data for the Bureau of Tuberculosis Control, focusing on outreach activities and data management.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quantitative data collection, entry, and analysis related to outreach activities and produce data visualizations based on data
  • Track outreach efforts and metrics, such as the number of individuals reached and educational materials distributed, as part of BTBC Core Activity of Reporting and Surveillance
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses and research to provide additional analytic support as needed to inform outreach and training planning efforts
  • Analyze the collected data in the agency's partner management system, Public Health Partners Connect (PHPC), a Salesforce application and the TB surveillance system, MavenTB
  • Conduct qualitative data collection, and code data and outcomes for reporting
  • Generate reports on outreach outcomes and community engagement metrics
  • Manage TB Coalition webpage and measure engagement metrics
  • Use data to inform future outreach strategies to target priority populations and apply for grant funding
  • Assists with data requests for medical talks to create slide decks
  • Assist with data for provider education events, such as TB Coalition meetings and the annual medical conference
  • Track training metrics and trends for BTBC and BPHC-TB staff
  • Enhance data management systems utilized for training
  • Organize & analyze training data collection for reporting
  • Conduct basic data presentation for the Bureau

Skills

  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health
  • A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above. However, all candidates must have at least a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in '2' above
  • Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in '1' and '2' above
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • At least one year of responsibility in data analysis and generating reports and visualization
  • Knowledge of basic data management, analysis, outreach and reporting methods
  • Excellent organizational, and written and oral communication
  • Ability to work offsite at locations throughout the five boroughs, on weekends and/or evenings, as needed
