A DAY IN THE LIFE This role is ideally based in Southern California but can be performed remotely within Southern or Central California. This position supports a team in charge of providing various environmental management and restoration services in industries such as utility, infrastructure, oil and gas, and renewable energy. As a Staff Environmental Professional (Analyst) | Remote in SoCal, you will be responsible for supporting Project Managers on project tasks and assignments to meet project profitability goals and deliver best-in-class services to our clients. Project focus areas include environmental planning and capital improvement projects needing CEQA and NEPA compliance, documentation, and permitting under the CEQA and NEPA. As a key member of the team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities, including:

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team for environmental compliance permitting and documentation.
  • Prepare project descriptions.
  • Provide coastal permitting support.
  • Asist with program tracking and organization.
  • Review project data, facilitate data transfer within project team, develop spreadsheets and reports, data entry, maintain project tracking, and manage database entries and quality assurance tasks.
  • Support project managers to oversee project compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Research environmental statutes and guidance.
  • Apply construction monitoring and environmental compliance requirements associated with each project.
  • Duties may include conducting environmental desktop or field analysis of sensitive resources, environmental construction monitoring support, writing and reviewing reports, and interacting with other company professionals and client contacts.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Exercises safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
  • Participates in the Company’s continuous improvement programs and provides support to team efforts.
  • Keeps up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or MS in planning, environmental science, biology, ecology, or similar field.
  • 1 to 3 years of professional experience as an environmental scientist/specialist, biologist, ecologist, planner, or equivalent in California with experience pertaining to environmental compliance.
  • Exposure to project management tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
  • Proven leadership skills; identify problems and actively devise appropriate solutions.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Outgoing/team player with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong organizational and management skills.
  • Ability to communicate in a group-oriented setting to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and leaders.
  • Knowledge of computer-aided software (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, ArcGIS, etc.)
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors.
  • The work environment will vary greatly depending on the nature of the assigned tasks.
  • The position may involve local travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of current environmental regulations, including CESA, FESA, CEQA, and NEPA, amongst others, is a plus.
