Position Summary: Math Success Support is a specialized field that requires knowledge of mathematics, patience, and strong communication skills. It?s important for math tutors to be able to explain difficult concepts in ways that are easy to understand. They must also have a deep understanding of the material they?re teaching so that they can answer any questions their students might have. Math Success Support workers work one-on-one or with a small group of students to help them understand and master the concepts behind various math topics. Key Responsibilities

• Preparing lesson plans and teaching materials to ensure that lessons are effective and engaging for students
• Providing one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions to students in areas such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus
• Observing students? behavior during lessons and providing feedback to improve performance to teacher of record
• Developing an individualized plan for each student based on his or her specific needs
• Helping students develop study skills such as; time management, study skills and note taking
• Meeting with students individually or in small groups to provide supplemental instruction in math subjects
• Evaluating students? strengths and weaknesses in math subjects and recommending appropriate coursework or tutoring sessions
• Providing feedback on student progress and offering additional assistance as needed

Qualifications

• An Associate Degree or higher in mathematics or related field
• Exceptional math skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely explain mathematical concepts
• Teaching or tutoring experience preferred
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Patience and creativity in finding different ways to explain concepts
• Ability to adapt instructional delivery to meet the needs of individual students
