The Opportunity We're seeking a visionary education marketing leader to drive the marketing strategy for Common Sense Media for Schools. This role will elevate our position as the essential voice in digital literacy education, building deeper connections with educators through compelling content, strategic partnerships, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will bring education sector expertise with proven ability to grow and build brands that resonate with teachers and school leaders. Location: San Francisco, California Reports To: Chief Marketing Officer Salary: $132,000–$150,000 Type: Full-time, exempt What You'll Do: Strategic Marketing Leadership

  • Set strategic direction across reaching new educators, deepening engagement with current users, and scaling through district and community partnerships.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with product, editorial, communications, and outreach teams to deliver integrated marketing programs.
  • Launch integrated marketing campaigns that establish thought leadership on digital and AI literacy and student well-being.
  • Partner with executive leadership and product, data, and engineering teams on key initiatives including data infrastructure, privacy considerations, and platform strategies.
  • Champion educator voices and needs throughout organizational decision-making.

Partnership & Community Development

  • Increase and strengthen district-level marketing approach with positioning, messaging, and case studies.
  • Develop strategic marketing materials that can be personalized/adapted for multiple school and district profiles to support the Education Outreach team.
  • Develop strategic framework for education partnerships that extend brand reach and credibility.
  • Build co-marketing strategies with mission-aligned partners across sectors.

Educator Acquisition & Lifecycle Strategy

  • Set strategic direction for the full educator journey, from discovery through long-term engagement and retention.
  • Coordinate with the education and product teams in developing strategic direction for the full school district journey, from discovery through adoption and retention.
  • Lead development of data infrastructure and measurement frameworks to track district/school/educator behavior, conversion funnels, and engagement patterns.
  • Establish digital acquisition strategies that reach new-to-profession educators across discovery platforms and channels.
  • Define onboarding, activation, and retention strategies that convert educators into engaged, long-term users.
  • Drive market and user research agenda to understand evolving teacher needs, digital behaviors, and content consumption patterns.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to align marketing efforts with current accessibility and data privacy requirements in the school market.
  • Set testing road maps and optimization priorities across acquisition channels and conversion pathways.

What We're Looking For:

  • At least 8 years of comprehensive marketing experience, including significant leadership in integrated marketing campaigns, brand development, and digital growth marketing
  • Deep understanding of K–12 education, educator motivation, and school culture
  • Proven ability to build compelling brand narratives and content strategies
  • Experience developing strategic partnerships in education or mission-driven sectors
  • Strong track record leading cross-functional initiatives and managing teams
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Commitment to Common Sense Media's mission
  • Comfort working across B2C educator marketing and B2B district strategies
  • Understanding of content performance across digital channels
  • Experience in nonprofit or social impact organizations
