Job Description:

*Required - General Liability claims, Litigation, NJ Tort Claims Action (Title 59 liability claims) 

Public Entity Focus | Complex Claims Management

Drive Excellence in High-Exposure Claims Resolution

We're seeking an experienced claims professional to manage complex liability claims for public entities. In this role, you'll independently handle mostly high-exposure and litigated claims while delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients.

Core Responsibilities

Complex Claims Management

  • Investigate, evaluate, deny or settle mostly complex and high exposure claims with minimal supervision
  • Determine and evaluate coverage, liability, and damages for various types of liability claims
  • Set appropriate reserves in accordance with policy provisions, company guidelines, and legal statutes
  • Handle litigation files with strategic approach to achieve optimal outcomes

Specialized Expertise

  • Manage diverse general liability claims including:
    • Slip and fall accidents
    • Police professional liability (excessive force, Civil Rights violations)
    • School liability (student injuries, improper educational plans)
    • Auto liability claims
  • Apply knowledge of NJ Tort Claims Act (Title 59 requirements)
  • Develop expertise in public entity liability exposures and defenses

Professional Excellence

  • Prioritize workflow effectively to manage complex caseload
  • Maintain detailed documentation and claim notes
  • Collaborate with defense counsel on litigation strategy
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders
  • Stay current on relevant legal and industry developments
Qualifications:

Required Experience & Education

  • High School Diploma
  • 4-5 years of claims handling experience in an insurance/TPA or related industry
  • Experience with general liability claims (slip & fall accidents at minimum)
  • Auto liability claims experience
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree (can be substituted with additional relevant experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workflow and manage complex caseloads

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NJ Tort Claims Act and Title 59 claims
  • Public entity claims handling background
  • Experience with police professional and school liability claims
  • Relevant licenses or certifications (AIC, CPCU, etc.)
  • Background in handling litigated claims

Benefits eligibility may differ depending on full-time or part-time status. Compensation depends on the applicable US geographic market. The expected base pay for this position ranges from $53,300 - $80,000 annually, and will be based on a number of additional factors including skills, experience, and education.
