Aboriginal Health Coach – Remote – Expression of Interest
About the position Better Health Company is seeking expressions of interest for an Aboriginal Health Coach to deliver phone-based health coaching and support services for participants across Australia. The company has over 15 years of experience in health promotion, designing and delivering practical solutions through government-funded programs, professional training, and accessible resources. They are passionate about reaching underserved communities, including those from low socio-economic backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities. This role is remote and can be full-time or part-time, with the option to work on-site at their Abbotsford, VIC office.
Responsibilities
- Support families and adults over the phone through health coaching calls across our programs
- Give simple, practical advice about healthy eating, moving more, and cutting down screen time, based on national health guidelines
- Help families set small goals and make positive changes that last
- Connect with communities and stakeholders to build strong relationships
- Share your knowledge to help make sure our training is relevant for both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal staff
- Advise and support our team on Aboriginal cultural and community matters
- Help with follow-ups, data entry, and promotional activities
- Join in training and quality improvement to keep growing your skills
- Assist with creating and adapting resources to make sure they are culturally safe and meaningful for Aboriginal families
Requirements
- Identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
- Has a qualification in a health field (like Bachelor of Nutrition, Exercise Science, Nursing, Health Promotion or Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice)
- Can build strong relationships with different people
- Has experience delivering health programs or services
- Works well independently and in a team
- Is well organised and good at managing time
- Has (or is willing to get) a Working with Children Check
- Has (or is willing to get) a police check
