The Remote Bio-Environmental Safety Officer will be tasked with creating, implementing, and managing comprehensive bio-environmental safety programs and policies. This includes conducting remote risk assessments to identify potential biological and environmental hazards in client workplaces, analyzing data, and recommending preventative measures. You will develop detailed safety procedures, guidelines, and training materials tailored to specific organizational needs and industry requirements. Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations concerning public health, sanitation, and environmental safety will be a primary objective. Key responsibilities include investigating safety incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes, and developing corrective action plans. You will advise management and employees on best practices for managing biological materials, waste disposal, infection control, and maintaining optimal environmental conditions. The role also involves staying current with scientific advancements in microbiology, toxicology, and environmental science, as well as evolving regulatory landscapes. You will facilitate virtual safety training sessions and promote a strong safety culture throughout client organizations. Qualified candidates will hold a Master's degree in Environmental Science, Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, Microbiology, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree with significant, relevant experience will also be considered. A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in bio-environmental safety, industrial hygiene, or occupational health and safety, with a focus on biological hazards and environmental compliance, is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) are highly desirable. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are essential. Superior written and verbal communication abilities, along with proficiency in virtual collaboration and data management tools, are crucial for success in this remote capacity.
