Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and motivated Data Scientist to join our System Quality organization, where you will play a critical role in advancing our software quality initiatives. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines that support quality assurance processes, conducting sophisticated data analysis to identify trends and patterns, and building analytical tools that empower our engineering teams to deliver superior software products.

This is a remote position offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States, with a competitive hourly rate of $28 per hour. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across engineering, product development, and quality assurance, serving as a data scienceexpert who transforms raw data into actionable insights that drive product improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Pipeline Development and Maintenance: Design, build, and maintain scalable distributed data pipelines using technologies such as Cassandra, Stripe, and data workflow management systems. Ensure data reliability, efficiency, and accuracy across all quality assurance data flows.
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Perform comprehensive data analysis to identify quality trends, detect anomalies, and uncover insights that inform software development decisions. Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable recommendations for engineering teams.
  • Testing and Assessment Support: Develop and implement data-driven testing methodologies, create statistical models for quality assessment, and establish KPIs that measure software quality effectiveness.
  • Tool Development: Build and maintain analysis tools, dashboards, and visualization platforms that provide real-time visibility into software quality metrics and support data-informed decision making across the organization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with software engineers, QA professionals, and product managers to understand quality requirements and deliver data solutions that address evolving needs.
  • Process Innovation: Identify opportunities to improve data collection, processing, and analysis workflows. Propose and implement innovative approaches that enhance efficiency and insight extraction.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, methodologies, and findings. Mentor team members and share best practices across the organization.

Essential Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with distributed computing platforms, data pipeline orchestration, and workflow management systems such as Cassandra, Stripe, and similar technologies.
  • Data Science Expertise: Strong foundation in the complete data science lifecycle, including data collection, cleaning, extraction, transformation, loading (ETL), analysis, modeling, and prediction.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages commonly used for data analysis and pipelines, with the ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
  • Analytical Thinking: Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a data-driven mindset, capable of approaching complex challenges with creativity and precision.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within the technology industry, preferably with consumer software or operating systems.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance methodologies and software development lifecycle processes.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies and cloud-based data processing platforms.
  • Understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning concepts, and data visualization techniques.
