You will work remotely, providing legal research, case management, and documentation support to advance justice and inmate welfare.   • Conduct comprehensive legal research across various areas such as criminal law, family law, tribal law, and immigration law to support inmate cases.
  • Assist in preparing legal documents, including petitions, affidavits, and correspondence related to inmate advocacy efforts.
  • Manage case files using legal case management systems like PCLaw, iManage, or similar platforms to ensure organized and accessible records.
  • Review legal documents for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support communication with clients, attorneys, courts, and external agencies through professional interviewing and correspondence.
  • Perform data entry and document review tasks to facilitate case progress and ensure thorough documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy standards while handling sensitive inmate information.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw; experience with legal research is essential.
  • Proficiency in managing legal documents using document management systems like iManage or similar platforms.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in paralegal work across multiple practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, securities law, patent law, UCC law, tribal law & regulations, landlord-tenant law, family law, immigration law, litigation, contracts, and more.
  • Exceptional writing skills for drafting clear legal documents and proofreading for accuracy.
  • Effective interviewing skills to gather detailed information from clients or witnesses.
  • Familiarity with legal administrative support functions such as filing, transcription, data entry, and clerical tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills combined with excellent phone etiquette for professional communication.
  • Experience with project management principles to coordinate multiple cases or initiatives simultaneously.
