Role Overview – Remote Data Analyst Co‑Op

We are seeking a motivated, entry‑level Remote Data Analyst Co‑Op to support the arenaflex Crew Resources and Scheduling team. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to apply analytical thinking to real‑world aviation challenges, even without prior professional experience. You will work remotely from Indiana, USA, collaborating with seasoned data scientists, operations managers, and crew planners to deliver data‑centric solutions that drive cost savings, improve schedule reliability, and enhance crew satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze large data sets related to crew resources, flight schedules, crew assignments, and related operational metrics.
  • Develop and maintain routine reports and interactive dashboards that provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Partner with crew resources teams to forecast staffing needs based on flight demand, crew availability, and regulatory constraints.
  • Assist in designing optimization models and decision‑support tools that improve crew scheduling efficiency.
  • Maintain and curate databases, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and security.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for crew resource management, such as on‑time performance, crew utilization, and cost per flight hour.
  • Monitor regulatory changes (FAA, EASA, and internal policies) and adapt data models to remain compliant.
  • Identify manual, repetitive processes that can be automated through scripting or workflow tools, and propose data‑driven alternatives.
  • Document analytical methodologies, data lineage, and reporting standards for future reference.
  • Participate in cross‑functional project meetings, providing data‑backed recommendations and status updates.

Minimum Qualifications (What You Must Have)

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent (must be at least 18 years old).
  • Current enrollment in a full‑time college or university program (preferably in Business, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field).
  • Basic familiarity with SQL or other database querying tools for data extraction and transformation.
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and basic VBA scripting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities; capable of presenting findings clearly to non‑technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated organizational and project‑management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications (What Will Set You Apart)

  • Experience with a scripting language such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Exposure to data‑visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
  • Understanding of process‑improvement methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
  • Curiosity, a sense of humor, and a willingness to experiment with new ideas.
  • Demonstrated resilience and persistence when tackling complex problems.
  • Passion for aviation and an interest in how data can transform crew operations.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect large data sets, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfort with SQL, Excel/VBA, and at least one scripting language.
  • Communication: Clear articulation of technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Collaboration: Experience working in virtual teams, respecting diverse perspectives.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring data accuracy and consistency across all deliverables.
  • Adaptability: Quick to learn new tools, processes, and regulatory updates.
