Immigration & Family Law Paralegal for U.S. Law Firm

Our U.S.-based law firm is seeking an experienced Immigration & Family Law Paralegal to provide ongoing support with case preparation, client communication, and document management. This is a long‑term position for someone who is detail‑oriented, reliable, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare immigration forms and packets (USCIS, NVC, DOS, EOIR), including:
  • Family-based petitions (I‑130, I‑485, I‑765, I‑131, I‑864, etc.)
  • Naturalization (N‑400)
  • Removal of conditions (I‑751)
  • Consular processing
  • Waivers (I‑601, I‑601A, hardship statements)
  • Draft family law documents (depending on state), such as:
  • Complaints, motions, financial statements, discovery responses
  • Child custody and support filings
  • Communicate with clients to gather documents and information
  • Organize evidence, prepare exhibits, and maintain case files
  • Conduct legal research as needed
  • Track deadlines and ensure timely filings
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow firm procedures

Requirements

  • Preferred 2 years of experience as an immigration paralegal (family‑based focus preferred)
  • Experience with family law (any U.S. state; Maryland experience is a plus)
  • Strong understanding of USCIS, NVC, and consular processes
  • Excellent written English and professional communication skills
  • Ability to draft affidavits, declarations, and cover letters
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Reliable internet and availability during U.S. business hours (EST preferred)
  • Ability to work w/ case management systems (e.g., Docketwise, Clio, MyCase, etc.) is a plus
  • Written and oral fluency in both Spanish and English is mandatory.

  • Experience preparing hardship statements and evidence packets
  • Ability to manage multiple cases at once
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills
  • Comfortable communicating with clients who may be stressed or anxious

Workload & Hours

  • Part‑time to start, with potential to increase
  • Ongoing, long‑term engagement
  • Flexible schedule, but some overlap with 9 AM – 5 PM EST is required

Compensation

  • Hourly rate based on experience
  • Long‑term, stable work for the right candidate
