WHAT YOU'LL DO The HWS (Healthcare Workforce Solutions) Senior Statistician is responsible for planning, designing, and executing insights that have clear business outcomes and are based in rigorous statistical modeling and analysis of clients’ de-identified data. They will work with HWS’s customer success, marketing, sales, and product teams to understand how available and potential insights could support HWS and Ascend goals, contribute to external thought leadership, and define internal product work. They may work with clients to collect and understand a growing diversity of outcomes data. They are responsible for identifying analytical opportunities based on organization goals and client/partner requests and leading the deployment of a solution to generate and share them. This leader also plays a central role in any longitudinal data studies across Ascend that include workforce (Laudio or StaffGarden) data as outcomes. WHERE YOU’LL WORK This position will have the flexibility to work remotely within the United States. HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME

  • Lead the development and deployment of all statistical work within HWS that directly supports clear business outcomes, which includes Laudio and StaffGarden, as well, potentially other data sets within Ascend
  • Convene and collaborate with stakeholders (within Insights and cross-functionally) to identify opportunities for statistical insights.
  • Build on, update, and grow a data management process for ongoing data feeds of healthcare system data related to product utilization and clients’ outcomes
  • Based in insight into HWS and Ascend business goals, define project milestones and provide updates on progress and roadblocks in team meetings (and occasionally broader leadership meetings)
  • Build on, update, and grow appropriate statistical analyses related to clients’ outcomes accounting for factors (e.g., employee, manager, and facility-level for the Laudio dataset).
  • Outcomes include employee turnover, employee engagement scores, quality/safety data
  • Use AI when possible to accelerate writing and testing of statistical models
  • Quickly finding meaningful signals in the models that could be used to inform and inspire Laudio's product and users about the types of actions that are making the greatest impact on outcomes.
  • For example, communicating which results (i) are statistically significant, (ii) are not statistically significant but are likely to be indicative of an outcome that could be communicated to users or to inform product direction, and (iii) are not indicative of a signal.
  • Able to quickly iterate models to attempt new approaches and to answer evolving hypotheses
  • Able to contribute new creative hypotheses that could be asked of the model
  • Summarize and communicate statistical results for general audiences for use by marketing, content, and other teams

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • 8+ years of experience as a biostatistician, ideally working within a health system (other applicable roles include: healthcare data analyst, data analyst, data scientist and bioinformatician)
  • 3+ years of experience working with healthcare data
  • Strong working knowledge of R programming for both data management and analysisDemonstrated ability to extract meaningful business insights
  • Demonstrated ability to translate statistical outputs into practical insights that influence organization and client-facing decisionsIdeally, some experience with SQL
  • Self-driven and proactive while working in a remote environment; able to work independently
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience with multi-level modeling
  • Experience working with large health system data preferred
  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong project management skills, highly organized and able to prioritize and multi-task
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to effectively visualize and report data findings in various formats.
  • PhD degree in biostatistics, public health, informatics or related field
