About the Role

Our client, a pioneering force in the telecommunications industry, is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Telecom Systems Architect to spearhead the design and evolution of our next-generation network infrastructure. This is a fully remote position, allowing talented individuals to contribute from anywhere within the US. You will play a critical role in defining the technical strategy, architectural roadmaps, and standards for our complex telecom systems. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of diverse network technologies, including 5G, fiber optics, and cloud-native architectures, coupled with exceptional leadership and communication skills. You will be instrumental in guiding engineering teams, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency across all network platforms. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of connectivity and drive innovation in a remote-first environment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain the overall architectural vision and roadmap for the company's telecommunications network. Design scalable, resilient, and cost-effective network solutions leveraging cutting-edge technologies. Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance network performance and capabilities. Collaborate with engineering, product management, and operations teams to translate business requirements into technical designs. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of network engineers and architects. Define network standards, best practices, and governance policies. Conduct architectural reviews and ensure adherence to design principles. Troubleshoot complex network issues and provide strategic solutions. Represent the architecture team in cross-departmental meetings and initiatives. Stay current with industry trends, standards (e.g., 3GPP, ETSI), and competitive technologies.

Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field; PhD is a plus. 10+ years of progressive experience in telecommunications network architecture and design. Extensive knowledge of IP networking, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), MPLS, and optical networking. Deep understanding of wireless technologies (4G/LTE, 5G) and their architecture. Experience with cloud-native architectures, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and NFV/SDN. Proven ability to lead technical teams and drive complex projects. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Experience with network simulation and modeling tools. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fully remote, collaborative environment.
