[Remote] Principal Data Center Mechanical Engineer

EdgeConneX is a global leader in data center solutions, seeking a visionary Principal Data Center Mechanical Engineer to define the mechanical architecture for their next-generation global data center standard. In this role, you will research and evaluate cooling technologies, develop mechanical designs, and maintain design standards while collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Define Mechanical Architecture: Develop and standardize mechanical designs for EdgeConneX data centers, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and sustainability
• Research & Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends and community initiatives, evaluating new cooling technologies, energy efficiency strategies, and mechanical systems
• Standards Development: Create, maintain, and update design standards, guidelines, and templates to provide clear direction for internal and external stakeholders
• Collaboration: Work closely with internal project engineering teams and external EPC partners to ensure alignment and successful implementation
• Solution-Oriented Approach: Deliver flexible solutions that meet diverse customer requirements while maintaining consistency with EdgeConneX standards
• Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate ideas effectively, establish actionable plans, drive consensus, and secure buy-in across teams

Skills

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Minimum 10 years in large-scale data center mechanical design
• At least 5 years of experience on international projects
• Deep understanding of HVAC systems, cooling technologies, energy efficiency strategies, and emerging mechanical innovations
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to navigate complex challenges and propose multiple viable solutions
• Proven track record of driving consensus among diverse stakeholders
• Familiarity with global standards and compliance requirements
• Experience collaborating with EPC firms and managing large-scale deployments
• Passion for innovation and continuous improvement in data center design
