[Remote] AWS Network Architect
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Virtual Service Operations is seeking an AWS Network Architect to lead the design and implementation of cloud network infrastructure supporting large-scale migration and modernization initiatives. The role involves architecting secure, high-performance network environments on Amazon Web Services and ensuring solutions meet federal security and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement secure, high-performance cloud network infrastructure on AWS, including VPCs, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, Route 53, and AWS Network Firewall
- Lead technical strategy for network segmentation, routing, and traffic management across complex multi-account AWS environments
- Design and execute hybrid connectivity solutions bridging on-premises data centers with AWS GovCloud, including data center-to-cloud network cutover planning
- Drive large-scale cloud migration and modernization initiatives, overseeing the transition of legacy on-premises infrastructure to AWS at scale
- Ensure all network solutions meet federal security requirements and compliance mandates applicable to the Defense Industrial Base
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates using Terraform or CloudFormation to provision and manage network resources
- Collaborate with cloud engineers, security teams, and government stakeholders to deliver reliable, resilient, and auditable network solutions
- Apply network security principles and controls within AWS environments, including traffic inspection, access control, and monitoring
- Produce and maintain documentation for network architecture decisions, runbooks, and compliance artifacts
Skills
- 7+ years of professional experience in network engineering or architecture, with a focus on cloud networking on AWS
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing core AWS networking services, including VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53, and AWS Network Firewall
- Hands-on experience supporting cloud migration projects, including hybrid connectivity design and data center-to-cloud network cutover planning
- Strong understanding of network security principles and the application of controls within AWS environments
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation for network resource provisioning
- Active Secret clearance required
- Ability to travel to Millington, TN approximately once per month; position is otherwise remote
- U.S. citizenship status required
- Top Secret clearance strongly preferred
