JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS The Office of the Senior Vice President for Research seeks an experienced, collaborative Research Analytics and Business Intelligence Specialist. This role designs, develops, and maintains business intelligence solutions for Penn State’s research enterprise. The specialist will build Power BI reports and datasets, develop SQL-based data models and datamarts, and work with stakeholders across Research Central and the Office of the Vice President for Research to turn complex data into actionable insights. Experience in healthcare, higher education, or research administration data environments, and familiarity with the research proposal lifecycle, is preferred. Work Arrangement: This position is eligible to work remotely within the US. Standard work times will be in EST. Key Responsibilities: Data Analysis and Visualization: Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and datasets from multiple sources, and create user-friendly reporting tools Analyze and present data to support decision-making. Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis. Data Modeling and Architecture: Build and maintain data structures for reporting and analysis. Develop and improve data models, quality, documentation, and governance. Gather and translate business requirements into analytics solutions. Follow established processes and standards. Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with stakeholders to define needs and deliver solutions. Communicate insights clearly to varied audiences. Present findings in written, visual, and verbal formats. Support testing and implementation activities. Manage multiple projects and priorities. Required Qualifications: Experience with data analysis and reporting tools. Experience working with data from multiple sources. Strong communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft office software. Preferred: Familiarity with higher education or research environments. Experience with institutional or operational data.
