About The Role The Director of Market Sales is a leadership role responsible for the end-to-end performance of Homeward’s Market Sales function. This role provides strategic sales and operational leadership across the property dispositions lifecycle, ensuring inventory is priced, marketed, negotiated, and sold efficiently while protecting margin and delivering an excellent customer experience. The core mission of this role is to drive the sell-through of Homeward’s inventory. Unlike other roles at Homeward, the Market Sale team must strike a fine balance between multiple somewhat-conflicting metrics: driving home sales, driving profitable transactions for homeward, maximizing the % of transactions with customer proceeds, and ensuring a positive customer experience. This leader will oversee two Team Leads who manage the frontline Market Sales team. The Director will set direction, coach and develop leaders, drive operational alignment across cross-functional partners, manage key disposition and external partnerships, and serve as the primary escalation point for complex or high-impact issues. They will continuously iterate and improve on existing processes and communication workflows to ensure we are selling homes efficiently and profitably, delivering a superior customer experience and maximizing second check proceeds for our customers Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management Lead, coach, and develop two Market Sales Team Leaders, ensuring strong people leadership, clear expectations, and consistent execution across teams. Set vision and priorities for the Market Sales function, translating company goals into clear operating rhythms, team goals, and performance standards. Host and facilitate team leader meetings and broader team forums to ensure alignment, accountability, and information flow. Partner with HR and senior leadership on hiring, onboarding, performance management, succession planning, and top-grading across the Market Sales organization. Strategy, Operations & Disposition Performance Own the execution of disposition strategy, balancing speed of sale, margin protection, and strong listing management Monitor market trends, sales velocity, pricing performance, and pipeline health; proactively adjust strategy as conditions change. Identify inventory at risk (timeline, pricing, margin, or partner experience) and partner with General Managers and cross-functional teams to course-correct. Drive continuous improvement of Market Sales processes, tools, and operating standards. Customer-centric Experience and Delivery Manage and iterate on an end-to-end customer experience that ensures our customers leave Homeward having a positive experience. Iterate on our scripting and automated communications to ensure we are delivering a best-in-class experience. Work with Team Leads to audit and monitor call logs, and provide feedback and coaching when necessary. Cross-Functional & External Partnership Leadership Serve as the primary liaison between Market Sales and internal partners including Sales, General Managers, Repairs, Finance, and Transaction Management to ensure operational alignment. Coordinate cross-functional efforts to resolve escalations, remove blockers, and improve end-to-end outcomes. Manage and strengthen key disposition partnerships, including ongoing performance management, issue resolution, and relationship health. Represent Market Sales in cross-functional forums and leadership discussions related to inventory performance and partner experience. Escalations, Communication & Stakeholder Management Act as the senior escalation point for complex, sensitive, or high-impact Market Sales issues. Ensure clear, professional, and timely communication with internal stakeholders and external partners during escalations. Maintain high standards for agent and partner experience throughout the disposition process. Reporting & Performance Management Own Market Sales performance reporting, including pipeline health, pricing trends, days on market, margin outcomes, and escalation themes. Develop and maintain KPI frameworks to measure team, leader, and functional performance. Provide regular, actionable updates to senior leadership with insights, risks, and recommendations. What You’ll Bring: 8+ years of experience in real estate sales, dispositions, asset management, or a related field. 5+ years of experience leading managers or team leaders in a fast-paced, operational environment. Deep understanding of residential real estate markets, pricing strategy, negotiations, and contract management. Extensive experience leading a customer centric sales organization Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data, CMAs, and performance metrics to drive decisions. Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence without direct authority. Experience managing external partnerships and navigating complex stakeholder dynamics. Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-volume environment. Real Estate License required (active or inactive) Pay & Benefits Compensation: On-Target Earnings (OTE): $185K - $215K $150K base salary + variable compensation Meaningful equity grant – stock options with real upside potential.
