The Director manages prospects or fundraising programs to grow overall revenue through personal and/or program-related solicitation. Responsible for managing the process of identifying, qualifying, and personally soliciting and cultivating a portfolio of donors and works closely with colleagues from other teams to coordinate prospect management activity. Responsible for assisting the entire Division with reaching financial goals. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Personal Solicitation: May personally cultivate, solicit, and otherwise manage a portfolio of prospective donors to meet quarterly and annual goals for fundraising and donor activities.
  • Strategy: Lead strategic discussions with prospective donors to align their philanthropic goals with Dana-Farber’s needs and opportunities. Develop and recommend new strategies to enhance fundraising and for gift solicitations.
  • Industry knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of different giving vehicles and work collaboratively on Planned Giving opportunities.
  • Reporting: Report progress on goals and responsibilities to the department; produce analysis of personal solicitation effectiveness. Coordinate with Information Systems staff for reporting and prospect tracking. Generate Call Reports.
  • Programmatic: Assist with implementation of comprehensive prospect management plan.
  • Other Activities as Needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Industry knowledge: Ability closing interdisciplinary, complex gifts, inspiring donors to invest in cross-organizational initiatives and big ideas, partnering with internal and external stakeholders, and collaborating with organizational leadership, particularly academic leaders and top executives.
  • Communication: Superior written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills.
  • Organization: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Solid organizational, project management, and multi-tasking abilities skills, with an aptitude for prioritizing tasks. Strong attention to detail. Effective and efficient time-management abilities. Strong ability to be resourceful and self-initiate tasks.
  • Judgement: Exceptional ability to exercise judgement, maintain confidentiality, and act with discretion when working with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to collect, organize, and interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can be used for decision-making.
  • Computer Literacy: Strong knowledge of development databases, and Microsoft Office applications, with excellent Excel skills.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required. 6+ years of relevant work experience. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A PATIENT CONTACT: No. SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS: This position's work location is fully remote with occasional time on-campus in Brookline, MA. The selected candidate may only work remotely from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI). Pay Transparency Statement The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.
