We currently seek a Regional Organizer to join our Organizing team. In this role… You will do invaluable work: Recruit and Grow Our Volunteer Network

  • Identify and engage new volunteers by recognizing energy, interest, and potential.
  • Build connections and invest in volunteers to help them get involved and take action for animals.

Retain and Support Volunteers

  • Keep volunteers engaged by fostering relationships, community, and connection between volunteers.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and follow-up to ensure volunteers feel supported and empowered.

Develop Volunteer Leaders

  • Identify leadership potential and support growth through training, coaching, and increasing autonomy.
  • Help volunteers take on more responsibility and lead initiatives within their communities.

Organize and Drive Action

  • Help volunteers understand the “why” behind campaigns and craft compelling narratives that inspire them to take action and show up.
  • Plan, promote, and coordinate events, trainings, and volunteer-led activities to advance campaigns.

Manage Systems, Operations, and Collaboration

  • Manage and improve organizing systems, including engagement platforms, volunteer records, communication tools, reporting systems, and supply inventories.
  • Work closely with internal and volunteer teams to ensure initiatives run smoothly.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.

Your qualifications will take our Organizing team to the next level:

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, stay organized, and maintain momentum with minimal supervision.
  • Strong project-management skills, including attention to detail and the ability to meet competing deadlines independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine enthusiasm for building relationships, cultivating volunteer communities, and supporting individuals as they grow into leadership roles.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate volunteers through compelling storytelling (public-speaking experience a plus).
  • Strategic, analytical, and solutions-oriented thinking, with a commitment to experimentation, feedback, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in organizing volunteer efforts, campaigning, training design and facilitation, coalition building, or media engagement is a plus
  • Experience recruiting, coaching, and developing volunteers or community leaders is a plus
  • Comfort learning and using new tools and systems, including Salesforce, Zoom, Asana, Slack, and social media (experience with these tools a plus).
  • Ability and willingness to travel two or three times per year and work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Mercy For Animals and comfort with pressure campaigns on animal welfare, legislation, public policy, and plant-based food access.
  • Commitment to continued personal and organizational growth in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice principles.

About Your Team Leader Your team leader, Miranda (she/her), is the organizing manager for the United States and Canada. She started organizing for animal protection in college as a volunteer before joining the movement full time in 2019. Her experiences in college showed her how meaningful and fulfilling volunteering can be, especially when you’re making a real difference. She developed a passion for bringing new people into the movement and giving them an opportunity to share their time and skills to make the world a better place for animals. Miranda values openness, creative thinking, and a willingness to try new things and learn from failure. Outside Mercy For Animals, you can find Miranda playing beach volleyball, rock climbing, and spoiling her two dogs, Duda and Anders. Compensation and Benefits (nonexempt) Earn an annual salary of $47,400 to $56,000 USD (paid hourly), depending on qualifications. In addition to a collaborative and innovative work environment, you will be able to take part in our benefits package, including no- or low-cost health, vision, and dental insurance; generous paid time off and sick leave; and 401(k) retirement plan, with a dollar-to-dollar employer match of up to 3.5% of your annual earnings.
