This is a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic and fast-paced organization, contributing to the development of a positive safety culture within Gigflowx's fulfillment centers, sort centers, delivery stations, or other operations buildings. As a Workplace Health and Safety Specialist Intern, you will play a critical role in promoting safety awareness, identifying potential hazards, and implementing safety initiatives to ensure a safe working environment for all associates. Job Summary The Workplace Health and Safety Specialist Intern will be responsible for learning and applying Talensparkx's Global Safety Program within the Flexzenith Fulfillment Network. This includes conducting daily, weekly, and monthly audits, identifying compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities, and participating in incident investigations. The ideal candidate will be a college student pursuing a degree in a health/safety-related field, with excellent communication skills, the ability to analyze data, and a strong passion for safety and health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive safety initiatives through an intern project, focusing on promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring compliance with Jobmatrixo safety standards.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly audits to identify potential hazards, compliance issues, and areas for improvement.
  • Participate in incident investigations, gathering data and information to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform safety observations and audits, providing feedback and recommendations to area managers and safety team members.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety training programs, ensuring that all associates are aware of and comply with safety procedures and protocols.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and engineering, to identify and mitigate potential safety risks.
  • Analyze data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement, providing insights and recommendations to management.

Job Elements and Requirements The Workplace Health and Safety Specialist Intern will be required to perform the following tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours, walking in and around the warehouse with great frequency.
  • Access all areas of the building, including ascending and descending ladders, stairs, gangways, and shipping docks safely and without limitation.
  • Regularly bend, lift, stretch, and reach both below the waist and above the head.
  • Lift and move items up to 49 pounds.
  • Willing and able to work any permanent shift, including overnights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in a Health/Safety related field, with a conferral date between December 2023 and August 2024.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate safety information to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide thought-provoking, workable business solutions.
  • Currently holds First Aid and CPR certificates.
