Job Summary This position is eligible for telework for applicants who reside in Minnesota or in a bordering state, with supervisory approval and satisfactory performance. If you live in a state bordering Minnesota, you must live within 50 miles or less from the primary work location to be eligible for telework. This position will be responsible for maintaining and implementing payment policies for inpatient hospital services. This position will direct the work of a contracted vendor to establish payment rates for inpatient hospital services delivered by all non-state-owned hospital types including, general hospitals, critical access hospitals, children’s hospitals and long-term hospitals. In coordination with MN.IT staff, this position will ensure that rate setting calculations are correctly programmed into the claims payment system. This position will also work closely with financial staff at Minnesota hospitals to identify and resolve any issues with payment rates.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Three (3) years of experience with Health Care Programs demonstrating the following:

  • Experience in preparing or using Medicare Cost Report forms or applying the principles used in completing Cost Reports OR Experience in setting complex or cost-based health care payment rates.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing state and federal health care program payment policy requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong Written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to monitor, interpret, apply, and assess policy and budget implications of interactive federal and state laws, rules and regulations
  • Technical literacy in terms of understanding and being able to fully utilize calculations and a variety of software to prepare statistical and payment reports and verify and analyze fiscal and auditor data
  • Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures
