Remote GED Instructor | Empower Adult Learners

Job Overview We are on the lookout for a passionate GED Instructor to guide adult learners in their pursuit of completing the GED examination. This position is designed for individuals who can create dynamic and interactive lesson plans suitable for both online and in-person educational settings. As a dedicated educator, your mission will be to cater to the distinct needs and aspirations of each learner, fostering a supportive and empowering learning environment. Key Responsibilities • Instruct adult learners in both virtual and classroom settings. • Design engaging and appropriate lesson plans focused on GED-level mathematics and science. • Apply best practice teaching methodologies based on evidence. • Develop individualized study plans for participants as necessary. • Track student progress and provide assistance to overcome academic hurdles related to GED subjects. • Maintain essential records, including assessments and attendance. • Partake in staff meetings, training sessions, and workshops as required. • Cultivate a positive classroom atmosphere that aligns with student interests and requirements. • Build robust relationships with students to promote retention and progress. • Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Skills • Ability to instruct diverse adult learner groups with varying abilities. • Strong command of mathematical and scientific principles. • Exceptional communication abilities, particularly in verbal, interpersonal, and presentation contexts. • Proficient classroom management skills. • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, time management, and stress management capabilities. • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment. • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). • Experience in tracking student data within complex databases is preferred. • Familiarity with platforms such as CampusVue, SID, Canvas, and virtual video-conferencing tools is a plus. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in adult basic education, mathematics, or a closely related field (preferred). • Valid teaching license from the State of Minnesota. • Minimum of one year of experience teaching adults is essential.
