About the position The Early Head Start Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing educational plans for infants and toddlers, focusing on their social-emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. This role involves collaboration with a Co-Teacher to manage the daily operations of the classroom, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering strong partnerships with families. The teacher plays a crucial role in safeguarding children and promoting their well-being while adhering to the values of Save the Children. Responsibilities • Develop and implement individualized and group lesson plans and educational activities for children. , • Guide and facilitate daily classroom activities and field trips. , • Set up equipment and materials in the classroom, ensuring a safe learning environment. , • Practice responsive caregiving and integrate routines into learning experiences. , • Conduct conferences and home visits to inform parents about their child's progress. , • Maintain accurate records and confidentiality regarding children and families. , • Plan and document observations, assessments, and screenings for each child. , • Work with Program Aides and Volunteers to enhance their skills in classroom activities. , • Ensure children's safety through active supervision techniques. , • Assist children during mealtime to teach social and self-help skills. , • Engage parents in their children's education through involvement and activities. , • Create an inventory of classroom equipment and supplies annually. , • Collaborate with the Manager of Education & Inclusion on professional development plans. , • Keep the classroom clean and organized. , • Document matching-in-kind activities, goods, and services. Requirements • Minimum of an associate degree in child development, early childhood education, or a related field with relevant coursework. , • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English. , • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams. , • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. , • Ability to follow directions and take initiative. , • Knowledge of the Head Start/Early Head Start program. , • Ability to relate sensitively with children. , • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. Nice-to-haves • Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish or other languages). , • Holding a Birth-Kindergarten (B-K) Licensure preferred if in North Carolina.
