Summary Under general supervision, this position will tutor Broward College students in specific subject matter. This position will assist the department in its goal of increasing retention and completion of students while adhering to all relevant College policies, procedures, and contractual agreements. Performs related work as directed... Minimum Education: • High School Diploma or equivalent accredited GED. Minimum Experience/Training: • Tutoring experience in subject area strongly preferred. Essential Functions: • Daily - 50%: Serves as an academic resource to students by helping them understand, apply, and complete course content and assignments while modeling successful student activities. • Daily - 20%: Supports the development of requisite academic skills of students and offers guidance in assisting students in reach their academic goals. • Other, As Needed - 10%: Attends all tutor trainings and required meetings • Daily - 5%: Maintains all records required to document student's attendance and academic progress. • Other, As Needed - 5%: Responsible for reporting tutoring work hours in Workday • Daily - 10%: Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills • Ability to assess and provide guidance to students on the use of educational software • Must maintain confidentiality of student meetings, record keeping, and corresponding material and dialogue • Must demonstrate a commitment to the tutoring program • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with other students, faculty and staff • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures • Ability to create and maintain a collaborative and team-building environment.
