Job title: Online Learning 7-12 Art Teacher .4 FTE Company: Faribault Independent School Job description: The Online Learning Teacher will create a positive online classroom environment and instructional program fostering student success in accordance with Falcons Online Academy mission. The online teachers will have access to a learning management system which houses all of the necessary course content. The online learning teacher will monitor online lessons, take attendance of students, assist with troubleshooting on technology set up, instruct and access students through an online learning management system; perform all related reporting duties; and communicate with students, parents and other staff accordingly. Location of position may be remote/hybrid; may be required to report in-person for things such as, but not limited to, professional development, open house, student/family meetings and/or conferences. Dedicated space will be available in a district building to work with students in person as needed. This position commences with the 2023-24 School Year on August 21, 2023. Essential Functions: • Lead students through successful course completion through the Edgenuity Learning Management System. • Communicate and interact regularly with students regarding lessons, questions, assignments, course progress and any other general instructional needs. • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations in a timely and confidential manner. • Collect, analyze and maintain data on individual student achievement. • Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with building and district staff as needed. • Full time teachers instruct up to 7 courses/sections per day/per semester or up to 150 students per semester, part-time teachers will have pro-rated course/students per semester. Courses may include art and also general elective courses as necessary. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Ability and commitment to work with diverse students and staff. • Effective and strong collaboration skills. • Constructive communication skills with students, parents/guardians and team members. • Excellent oral, writing and editing skills. • Strong drive and self-motivated. • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with youth. • Knowledgeable about classroom practice in order to successfully facilitate the learning environment, manage time, communications, and record keeping. • Ability to remain current in curricular area and in instructional practices. • Knowledgeable about student electronic database and grading software. • Knowledgeable about using technology to support instruction and enhance student learning. • Online learning teachers will be allowed to teach from a location on site and/or remote. Space will be provided to meet with students/staff as needed. Education and Experience • Bachelors Degree in secondary education • Secondary Minnesota teaching license in appropriate course specific area. • Knowledge of content, resources, pedagogy in one or more academic disciplines. Proficient in instructional and assessment techniques in the disciplines. • Experience developing and sustaining collaborative relationships with students. • Experience developing curriculum materials preferred but not required. • Experience in a Learning Management System (Edgenuity, Schoology, SeeSaw, Moodle, Blackboard) preferred but not required. • Experience teaching and assessing student progress online preferred, but not required. Compensation & Benefits Salary compliments education and experience according to the Faribault Education Association Master Contract. Internal teachers will receive an overload extended contract per section taught.
