Job Description

Job Summary Responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of underwriting decisions and processes as well as providing exceptional service to all stakeholders involved. This requires extensive knowledge of our underwriting guidelines including agency, jumbo, and government loans and the ability to address complex loan scenarios. The role requires the ability to manage a pipeline of loans assigned each day proactively and effectively while maintaining SLAs on all job tasks. In addition, the ability to communicate underwriting decisions and needed documentation to Sales and Broker Clients accurately and clearly. Duties/Responsibilities Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. • Underwrite a full range of mortgage loans including Agency, Jumbo, FHA, and VA loans. • Proactively manage a pipeline of loans with a sense of ownership • Review all mortgage related documentation for accuracy and completeness and meet company guidelines. • Review to ensure all HUD or VA requirements are met on government loans, loans are insurable and ResiCentral overlays are applied. • Perform mortgage credit analysis, with or without the assistance of automated underwriting system, to determine borrower's willingness and ability to repay the mortgage debt. This is done by reviewing the credit package to determine mortgage amount and term, calculating required investment, determining assets available for closing, analyzing credit history, calculating proposed monthly housing expense, and recurring debt. • Review credit documents for completeness and accuracy. • Perform detailed review of appraisal report. • Request missing documentation necessary to complete the underwriting decision prescriptively and concisely. • Accurately perform compliance reviews and escalate, as necessary. • Support Operations, Sales, and Clients in conveying the ResiCentral underwriting philosophy and education. • Familiarize yourself with ResiCentral' s proprietary software and learn the internal technology platforms. • Provide best-in-class client service through friendly, professional, and responsive communication with both internal and external customers. Required Skills/Abilities • Proficiency with automated underwriting systems such as DU and LPA • Self-starter with strong work ethics and professionalism • Team-player and able to work autonomously to meet critical deadlines. • Strong written/verbal communication skills. • Unwavering attention to detail. • Provide exemplary service in all client interactions and communications; always uphold the ResiCentral service standards and exercise good judgment. Physical Requirements • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Travel Required • none Education and Experience • 5+ years of experience underwriting FHA, VA, and Conventional loans. • Wholesale underwriting experience preferred. • FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) designation required. • VA LAPP/SAR designation required. • 5+ years of experience reviewing Appraisal Report. • Encompass experience preferred. • High school diploma or GED required.
