About the position The Patient Access Representative at Ochsner Health System is responsible for providing excellent customer service to patients and guests, facilitating the patient registration and admission process, and ensuring accurate collection of patient information. This role is crucial in maintaining patient satisfaction and supporting the clinic's operational efficiency by managing appointments, verifying insurance, and handling financial transactions. Responsibilities • Greet patients and guests courteously, both in person and over the phone. , • Initiate scheduling appointments and complete the check-in process for patients. , • Obtain and verify accurate identification and demographic data for patients. , • Perform point-of-service collections and manage face-to-face patient interactions. , • Verify insurance information through electronic means, telephone, or web applications. , • Enhance patient satisfaction by representing the company professionally. , • Gather and input patient demographic and financial information accurately. , • Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due. , • Balance cash drawer daily and prepare deposit slips at the end of each shift. , • Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships and resolve interpersonal conflicts. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred. , • One year of related experience in a hospital, clinic, medical office, or customer service role required. , • Certification in Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) or Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) preferred. , • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Windows-style applications and various software packages. , • Effective verbal and written communication skills. , • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle high-stress situations. , • Good organizational, time management, and conflict resolution skills. , • Excellent decision-making and analytical skills with attention to detail. Nice-to-haves • Certification as a Medical Assistant or other medical specialty-based certification.
