Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Credit Risk Officer as a part of Wells Fargo's second line of defense. The Independent Risk Management (IRM) team covers jobs which lead the design and management of a highly targeted independent credit review (oversight) capability to assess the quality of lending and ongoing management of credit risk within the Bank, including adherence to risk appetite, credit policy and regulation. May include jobs which provide challenge to line of business credit products, programs, transactions, and policies, and participate in acquisition due diligence. Corporate Credit Risk independently oversees the management of credit risk exposures (including monitoring and reporting on aggregate credit exposures across groups, legal entities, geographies, and jurisdictions) and the quality of credit risk management practices across the company. This oversight extends to all phases of a loan's life cycle, including origination, underwriting, risk analysis, approval, documentation, monitoring, loss recognition, modification, and collection activities. We are seeking highly motivated credit professionals to enable the rationalization and maintenance of wholesale credit policies, while: Ensuring proper Line of Business implementation of, and adherence to, wholesale credit policies. Supporting line of business credit risk governance. Complying with the Policy Management Policy. Ensuring a consistent credit risk profile. Ensuring credit professionals can easily understand and follow the requirements. Ensuring proper Line of Business implementation of, and adherence to, the wholesale credit policies. In this role, your duties may include: Ensuring proper Line of Business implementation of, and adherence to, wholesale credit policies. Leading roundtables, and serve as a subject matter expert, on specific lending topics. In addition, your duties may include: Understanding, and clearly communicating, complex wholesale credit concepts. Building consensus for final approach on lending topics. Writing credit policies, with moderate oversight, so that it: Aligns with regulatory expectations. Appropriately represents the bank’s risk appetite. Is clearly understood by all stakeholders (Credit Professionals and third-parties). Adheres to the Policy Management Policy. Ensuring proactive management of existing credit policies, procedures, and supporting documents. Additional duties may include: Addressing needed Risk Governance edits within policies. Adherence to the Policy Management Policies. Identifying improvement opportunities within policy, procedure, and surveillance by: Ensuring resolution of matters requiring attention from third party stakeholders. Providing accurate and timely answers to credit policy inquiries, from Credit Professionals and other stakeholders. Effectively communicating and building partnerships with appropriate parties. Required Qualifications, US: 5+ years of Credit Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education. Desired Qualifications: Solid understanding of WHSL credit underwriting, monitoring and approval responsibilities, across multiple lines of business/lending types. Advanced ability to communicate both orally and in writing to multiple constituents. Current or previous delegated credit approval authority.
