This can help customers feel like they are part of a community, and can also lead to increased engagement and loyalty. • Develop and preserve a thorough comprehension of the items offered in the store and have the proficiency to answer any questions and recommend products expertly. • Tasked with the duty of maintaining a friendly demeanor, creating a welcoming environment, and proactively greeting, conversing with, and helping customers. • At the check lane, we prioritize speed, accuracy, and efficiency when processing customer transactions, to provide a seamless checkout experience. • Adhering to the designated shift hours is essential. • Verify the accuracy of the payment received for the goods, provide the correct change, and manage checks, credit and debit transactions as per appropriate departmental procedures for paperwork and accountability. • Be adept at operating the Point of Sale system to handle a variety of payment methods, rain checks, complex loyalty programs, coupons, and checkout procedures in line with the company's policies. • Enter sales data into the register using one of the three methods: sliding the item over the scan window, using a handheld scanner, or manually typing it in using the 10-key pad. • Adhere to the company's cash management policies and work honestly and effectively to minimize any potential losses. • Adhere to the instructions governing the sale of banned items such as Alcohol, Videos, Fireworks, and Tobacco. • Take steps to prevent inventory shrinkage, such as thoroughly checking basket bottoms, scanning all items for proper inventory tracking, avoiding manual sales entries, and ensuring consistent adherence to closing procedures. • Meeting productivity milestones by quickly completing transactions within the given timeframe. • Notify the appropriate personnel immediately if you encounter any pricing discrepancies according to the company's standard operating procedure. • Stay informed about the present, upcoming, festival-themed, and special commercials. • Your task is to provide customers with information about the various company directives, such as Kroger Personal Finance, customer service surveys, fuel points, and fundraising requests. • Keeping the checkout area from becoming a mess involves the regular wiping down of all surfaces to maintain their cleanliness. • Enhance safety standards by upholding safety protocols and procedures, and promptly alerting store management of any unsafe situations or potential safety hazards. • Make sure the management is aware of accidents that occur with customers or employees. • To ensure the safety and security of everyone, any safety hazards and illegal activities such as robbery, theft or fraud, must be reported. • It is vital to follow all laws and regulations set by the governing bodies at the local, state, and federal level, as well as adhere to the policies and guidelines of the company. • The smooth operation of the establishment relies on the meticulous adherence to the current guidelines for merchandise display, customer care, cash management, labor management, supply chain management, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, food safety, employee behavior, and customer engagement. • The individual in this position must be able to execute the necessary tasks inherent in the position with or without accommodations.
