About the position

Volt is immediately hiring for a Software Engineer III position, which is a remote role based in Fort Collins, Colorado. As a Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and deploying enterprise-level web and desktop applications utilizing C#, ArcObjects, and the .NET framework. This position requires a strong background in software engineering, particularly in customer-facing roles, where you will be responsible for the full software development life cycle, from initial design to end-user support. You will be tasked with creating and implementing software solutions on the ESRI GIS platform and ArcFM Solution, ensuring that the applications meet the needs of utility clients in sectors such as electric, gas, water, and wastewater. In this role, you will work with a variety of technologies, including C#, .NET, VB, SQL, Python, HTML, XML, JavaScript, Azure DevOps, Jenkins CI, Jira, GitHub, and GitFlow, as well as IIS 7+ and Windows Installer XML. You will serve as a primary contact for a technically knowledgeable client base, addressing internal and external technical issues related to database configuration and software defects. Additionally, you will support and educate clients on the solutions and products delivered, ensuring they are effectively utilized in their operations. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field, along with at least 7 years of experience in developing end-user applications in a .NET, C# environment. Experience with commercial RDBMS such as Oracle and SQL Server, as well as extensive knowledge of the ESRI ArcGIS technology stack, is essential. You should also have experience with secure coding practices, integration tools, and networking concepts. This position offers a competitive pay range of $65/hr to $70/hr, based on various factors including education and experience, and is expected to last for 12 months with the possibility of extension.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems preferred, or related field with computer emphasis.
  • ,
  • 7+ years' experience developing end-user applications in a .NET, C# development environment using object-oriented programming principles.
  • ,
  • 7+ years' experience with commercial RDBMS such as Oracle and SQL Server.
  • ,
  • 5+ years' experience developing integrations, customizations, and extensions for the ESRI ArcGIS technology stack.
  • ,
  • 3+ years' experience with ESRI GeoDatabases and ESRI Versioning.
  • ,
  • Experience in Windows-based software development tools, including Visual Studio.
  • ,
  • Experience with Azure Development and Azure DevOps technology stack.
  • ,
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and/or Jenkins.
  • ,
  • Experience with Windows Installer XML (WiX).
  • ,
  • Experience working with electric, gas, water, or tel utility companies.
