Job Description

This role involves utilizing clinical skills to conduct utilization management reviews, including prior authorizations, coverage exceptions, and quantity limit exceptions. You will work independently within a team of pharmacy professionals to complete these reviews. Quality and performance are evaluated through monthly goals, and while new pharmacists are considered for long-term employment, contracts are reviewed every six months for potential extensions. Responsibilities - Conduct utilization management reviews (prior authorizations, coverage exceptions, quantity limit exceptions). - Work independently and collaboratively within a team of pharmacy professionals. - Meet monthly quality and productivity goals. - Participate in cross-training opportunities for other departments such as Medication Therapy Management and Call Center Counseling. - Complete training for and review specialized cases like oncology and hepatitis C, if available. Essential Skills - Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science Pharmacy degree. - Two years of work experience in retail, managed care, or clinical pharmacy. - Current pharmacist license in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy. - Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. - Drive to deliver results and motivated self-starter. - Ability to make clinical decisions independently. - Flexibility to adapt to change and resourcefulness. Additional Skills & Qualifications - Previous experience in Pharmacy Benefits Management or Case/Care Management. - Retail experience preferred over hospital experience. - Proficiency in learning new computer systems and basic IT troubleshooting. - Skill in using Word and Excel. - Ability to type 35+ words per minute.

Work Environment

This is a fully remote position available in any state except California, Hawaii, or Virginia. Shifts typically start between 9-10am CST, determined by team bid based on seniority. Candidates should expect a full-time schedule with potential overtime during peak seasons, which are typically November through May. Weekend shifts rotate every other weekend during peak season and every sixth weekend outside peak season. Training occurs M-F, 8-4:30pm CST, for approximately 10-12 weeks. The training includes instructor-led sessions, videos, worksheets, and practice cases. Time off during training is minimal, with exceptions for emergencies. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
