Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Early Childhood Special Education Teaching Assistant to join our team in Illinois. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, working closely with licensed teachers and therapists to maximize participation in learning and achievement of Individualized Education Program (IEP) objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement instructional plans as determined by licensed teachers and therapists
  • Provide physical care and support as needed, including diapering, toileting, and feeding
  • Observe, document, and reinforce appropriate student behaviors
  • Participate in weekly team meetings to review student progress and plan upcoming lessons
  • Assist with non-instructional activities and provide support during transitions

Requirements:

  • Valid Educator License with Stipulations (PARA), Substitute License, or Professional Educator License
  • Experience working with special education students preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Basic arithmetic skills and proficiency in using personal computers and software applications
  • Compassionate and supportive demeanor, with ability to establish positive relationships with students and staff

Physical Abilities:

  • Ability to lift students and perform physical manipulations as needed
  • Regularly required to see, speak, and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel
